Frequently Asked Questions

Elliott Wave Theory is a technical analysis approach that identifies repeated patterns in market price movements to forecast financial market trends and cycles. According to Elliott Wave Theory, market movements follow a series of crowd psychology cycles.
The two primary types of waves in Elliott's wave theory are corrective waves and motive (impulse waves). There are three impulse waves and two retrace waves that make up a motive wave. A corrective wave is made up of three waves: A, B, and C. Wave B is a retrace wave, whereas Waves A and C are impulse waves.
According to Elliott's Wave Theory, market prices will alternate between an impulsive and a corrective phase. Impulses are generally divided into a series of five lower-degree waves that alternate between motive and corrective nature so that waves 1, 3, and 5 are impulses while waves 2 and 4 are smaller retraces of waves 1 and 3.
It is recommended that participants have a basic understanding of technical analysis and charting concepts.

Elliott wave principle states that the market price movements can be divided into five impulsive waves (denoted as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) and three corrective waves (denoted as A, B, and C), forming a complete cycle.
Elliott wave is used to forecast price movements and identify potential turning points. The key application involves identifying and interpreting the five impulsive waves and three corrective waves that form a complete cycle. Impulsive waves generally move in the direction of the main trend, while corrective waves represent temporary counter-trend movements.
Elliott's pattern consists of "impulsive waves" and "corrective waves." An impulsive wave consists of five sub-waves. It moves in the same direction as the trend of the next larger size. A corrective wave is divided into three sub-waves. It goes against the trend of the next larger size.
One common misperception regarding Elliott Wave trading is that it provides accurate forecasts. While it is an effective tool to analyze market movements, it is not completely reliable and should be used in combination with other technical indicators. It is important to note that no analysis can forecast the market movement with precision.
Traders use Elliott Wave analysis to identify trends, set price targets, manage risk, and make informed investment decisions by combining it with other technical indicators.
"A correct Elliott wave count must observe three rules: >> Wave 2 never retraces more than 100% of wave 1. >> Wave 3 cannot be the shortest of the three impulse waves, namely waves 1, 3 and 5. >> Wave 4 never enters the price territory of wave 1."
