About this Face2Face:
In this video of the face2face series, we have with us Mr. Vivek Bajaj, co-founder, StockEdge, Elearnmarkets, in conversation with Mr. Vivek Gadodia, an expert trader and technical analyst who will focus this video on quant trading and algo trading.
This video is an introductory video on the topics of algorithmic trading, also known as systematic or rule based trading, which is quite a new topic in the stock market and often scares novice traders and investors. We will begin this video with an introduction to our speaker, Mr.Gadodia, who started with an MBA in systems and eventually started his own fintech consulting firm, which focuses on algo.
To begin the technical discussion, we will discuss the actual meaning of algorithmic trading with some easy examples to understand how it plays out practically in the stock market. We will see how algorithmic trading differs from general trading without automation, along with the help of algo trading software.
Additionally, we will learn about the importance of focusing on executing winning trades that cover our profits, rather than only striving for continuous profits. We will also touch upon the features of good trading software and how programming languages work to execute trades.
We will then talk about how the payoff ratio with algo rules helps traders cover their losses. Mr. Gadodia will show us a trade of his own over trading software and will show us the functions of the various features available when we trade using algorithms. We will explore a very important feature of algorithmic trading, which is their ability to factor in our risk management and money management needs, thus helping us trade to the best of our abilities.
Following this, we will discuss how we can make our trades more accurate with technical analysis. With examples, we will talk about how putting some filters or technical indicators can make all the difference when it comes to making trades with more profits.
To end the video, we will be talking about how algorithmic trading is treated in the Indian stock market and stock exchanges and how the market is gradually becoming more accepting of algo trading, and it might even give way to the allowance of automated trading with lesser regulations.
