About this Face2Face:
In this edition of the face2face series, we have with us Mr. Vivek Bajaj, co-founder, StockEdge, Elearnmarkets, in conversation with Mr. Sahil Kapoor, the chief market strategist of Edelweiss Investment Research. Mr. Kapoor is someone with an incredible amount of experience in the financial markets. He has previously worked as a commodity analyst, equity analyst and also in a prop desk. He has been in his current role for the past 5-6 years.
While building a portfolio, some of the common questions that arise are related to Asset Allocation. This basically means how much of our wealth should we divide between different asset classes such as Gold, Bonds, Stocks and Cash. Such questions are answered with great detail by Mr Kapoor in this video. He will explain in simple terms how we should approach asset allocation. For instance, a method he explains is by subtracting our age by 100 and allocating that much to equity-related instruments. Suppose if you are 30 years old, according to this method, 70% of your portfolio should be allocated towards Equity.
The speakers will also discuss extensively all aspects of index funds and ETFs and whether they should form a part of our portfolios. Mr. Bajaj will then also ask questions about the importance of Gold as an asset class. During this discussion, queries about government securities and bonds will also be answered. Another great topic which Mr. Kapoor will emphasise on is something which would really help young investors to build a portfolio. He will talk about something called Satellite Portfolios and how it has benefitted him in the past.
Towards the end, Mr. Bajaj will enquire about the current rising trends in the stock markets and whether momentum investing is something that must be looked at. To this Mr. Sahil will explain with the help of a strategy how one can identify nine long side and short side trades which can be a part of a momentum portfolio.
So this is not a video you want to miss out. Complicated topics of Asset Allocation, Long-term wealth creation, portfolio rebalancing, index investing and momentum investing are all explained in the simplest of manners. It will go a long way in helping you build a balanced portfolio.
